UC Digital Arts Research Network

UC DARnet is dedicated to bringing UC faculty, students and staff together to help engage dialogue, strengthen the network and encourage collaboration. This event is dedicated to graduate students who show excellence in their thinking, research and creative work with digital media.

The UC Digital Arts Research Network (UC DARNet) is a transdisciplinary Multicampus Research Group of University of California faculty who utilize digital media for cultural and theoretical research and in their creative production. UC faculty established DARNet in 1997 to lay the foundation for a UC-wide program to facilitate collaborative research and teaching within a distributed digital arts and humanities community.

Culture is in the midst of an increasingly rapid shift to computer-mediated forms of creative production, distribution and communication. The role of digital media is fundamental to this shift. Media Artists create a natural bridge across the traditional disciplinary divide between the humanities and the sciences.
UC DARNet, provides an opportunity for critical engagement and conceptual dialogue between humanists, scientists, and those in the media arts.

Free and Open to the Public

If you cannot join us in person, connect via live video streaming: http://www.eda.ucla.edu

All lectures are free and take place in the EDA, room 104 Kinross, 11000 Kinross Ave in Westwood.

Parking: Take 405 North and exit Wilshire East. As soon as you exit the freeway move as far left as possible. You want to turn left on Veteran which is pretty close to the offramp. Our building is in that lot on the corner of Wilshire and Veteran but you need to pick up your parking permit first. So, head north on Veteran until you reach Strathmore. Take a right on Strathmore (which is a residential area) until you hit Westwood Blvd. Take a right on Westwood and get in your left lane. There is a parking/information booth in the middle of the street. Parking is free if you have a UC parking permit, but you will need to show your UC permit to the parking attendant to get the correct pass for lot 36. Those without UC permits, parking is $8 for the day. Continue taking Westwood down to Kinross Ave, and turn right. The building is on the left. Take a left at the light into lot 36 and park near the three story building. The EDA is located in room 104.
